Hideyoshi was just an ordinary female. She struggled at school and was obsessed with pop culture. Till the day came when she stumbled upon a shrine. Where she was sent back in time to the warring states era.
Here she will meet Nobunaga... who has some how transformed into a voluptuous female. Since Hideyoshi is... well hopeless she agrees to help Nobunaga on her quest to find some kind of crimson armor.

You know when you get down to it men just do not have a lot of options when it comes to cloths. Really when a guy strays too far from the generic set of cloths that men normally wear. He is a homosexual or considered as such. Thus this anime became battle girls.
Because there is really no limit to what females can wear. You have everything from the obnoxiously obscene, Nobunaga, to the nice and modest, Akechi, to the in between Hideyoshi. Plus you have a whole spectrum to hit from there.
Of course I could be wrong. After all jello wrestling is a very popular sport.
