You know this anime does a great bait and switch. It sounds cool because it is about a slime. However, it is about an extremely gifted slime, which ruins things a bit. I know that this is the standard operating procedure for a lot of anime with this kind of reincarnation based story, but still, this is sort of ridiculous, and boring. I would much rather watch him have to survive as a weak slime using his street smarts from his other life to keep himself alive or something. Sadly, here is another god descended to the world. I guess that it is at least a little unusual since we are going to be hanging on the demi-human side of things.

Maybe I am just a bit of a sadist, but why can't we have a joke here? Maybe make the elves all ugly or something? I mean I guess that elves are not seen as an ugly race, but still. Rimiru is just getting everything and anything that he can to make his life easier. I guess that this grinding in the cave helped out here. Well no matter, a lot of this can be forgiven with the whole squishy joke that was made.
