Gon was basically abandoned as a child. His father wanted to be a hunter instead of a father. So Gon is following in his footsteps. Not by knocking up a girl and then abandoning the result. No he believes that being a hunter must be epic if his father was willing to abandon him to be one. So Gon sets out to become a hunter. Which is basically an explorer.

Level of Darkness
You know this series is not always light-hearted. I mean there were several times when we saw the bad guys running through a city ripping off peoples limbs and killing everything that moved. However, this particular arch seems to be REALLY dark. I mean yeah it is kind of an end of the world arch but you know.. it just gets extremely violent beyond anything. It is not just violence either, it is brutal violence.
That is one thing I have noticed about anime these days. The scale of the violence shows just how dark the anime really is. When the violence is quick and clean the anime does not have to be happy, but it is not all that dark. However, when you want it to get dark you just make things more and more fucked up. Like having characters just get killed and their bodies abused and all that kind of stuff. Oh well, I guess that is a good formula. What better way to say this is not a happy episode than to kill characters in a violent way.

The Blankness of My Brain
You know this is one of those animes where I do not have much to say or think about.. I am not sure why. Everything makes sense to me. Plus there is this obnoxiously huge story going on in the background. Oh well at least the author does a pretty good job of keeping it interesting. I mean how long was it before Gon showed up in the series again? I am not sure, but it was long enough for me to at least enjoy the series.
Granted this series is turning out to be much more violent then the character designs lead me to believe. Normally when I see art like this show has. I think it is going to be all tame and happy and no one dies. However, there has been tons of misery and death and all that stuff in this one. It is kind of like an optical illusion. Hmm.. well at least that is a good thing.

Demoralizing Isn't It?
So I was watching this episode and though to myself how anime really demoralizes us viewers. You know when I really think about a lot of anime all the main stars have something in common. They are all one in two million, as this episode put it. They all have some super natural ability that makes all of us regular humans look like losers. SO when you really think about it... we demoralize ourselves by watching this.
Really think about it. The only character I can think of who was designed to be a failure is Rock Lee. He has to work 1000 times harder than any of the other characters in Naruto. It is kind of like Zushi, he is so far behind Gon and Killua... well he cannot catch up even if he wants too. So of course some of us anime guys and girls might get inspired to do well. However, I am sure that inspiration goes away really quickly. Either way that is just an observation I have from this episode.

Yay No More Gon
Finally, I am so sick and tired of Gon. He is such a common anime character he really pisses me off. Killua was cool until he spent time with Gon. Then Gon poisoned him with his positivity and turned him into a tool. That really annoys me to no end. So I am glad that we are done with Gon, even if just for a couple of episodes. I hate watching animes with characters I cannot relate too.

Been a While
You know it has been quite a while since I last wrote anything about this anime. I guess I just do not feel the commentary as much on a series that I know is going to be much longer than most other series. Eh whatever, I guess that is life right? You just sort of struggle along and deal with the strain of things... huh that made no sense.
Though I am amused at how they grasp at straws for this series. Making these annoying complex schemes that only... well I doubt anyone could really handle. I bet if I read the manga I could see what happens, but I am not going to because that would be boring. Granted I am not really sure I want to keep watching this anime... it is not really appealing to me because... well I do not really like Gon... I am despising the happy-go-lucky idiots more and more these days.

O_O TABLETS
You know maybe it is just me, but does all this technology seem out-of-place? I mean I know this manga is an old one. I also know that it has been slow going. However, I do believe that this manga was before this time right? Oh well, I guess having minor improvements like this one to keep up with the times is not a bad thing. Yet it is just kind of odd. Then again, most people do not know this anime is from a really old mangA.
