Too Much Mystery
So after watching this anime I know there is some sort of evil conspiracy going on in No.6. The whole plot revolves around the Utopia No.6 being a very bad place. That is as far as it goes until.. well the end of the anime. I would say around the last two or three episodes. Then the anime comes to a crashing halt. Lets look at the first two episodes.
So it starts out with this kid who is super... uhh awesome? I don't know, he encounters another kid who is on the run. Then the episode ends. Then another episode occurs... you know four years later. That minor detail that was left out. So right off the bat I am confused. You jump from one premise to another. Then all the drama revolving around the evil No.6 stops.
Yes the drama surrounding the evil bad guy No.6 just sort of stops. Then we move onto... well slice of life. Surviving in the waste land. Shion and Rat just sort of live their lives. Occasionally sending messages to Shion's mom. Then all of the sudden the battle resumes at warp speed and is suddenly over with all the mindless sheep and evil people being dead. Of course they have to have one completely uninvolved party become completely involved.
I am of course talking about Safu. Who is she, why does she have this ability? There is one HUGE black spot that was left out as a minor detail. What exactly lead to a person like her being born. How exactly did they figure out her power? There are all sorts of fun questions that were written off as minor details. The important thing is that she gives off a whole bunch of potential for all of No.6 and their super secret experiment. Which like any evil villain's experiment goes wrong. Then lets talk about Shion.
I guess Shion is a victim of "Main Character" syndrome. Because for some magic reason the parasite bee took a lot longer to grow to maturity. As where with everyone else. The bees killed them right away. But Shion somehow managed to fight off the infection and gave Rat enough time to cut the thing out? For some reason the pupa or larva or whatever caused Shion to notice it first? Not like that bitchy nurse or Shion's co-worker had a chance. So what exactly made Shion so wonderful?
Like I said this is a good anime. Overall, it has a good story and is worth a watch. However, you just have to watch out for all the extra crap that gets ignored by the main writing staff. I am sure all of it had a place in the story. So I guess this anime was not doing as well as it could.
