A Fantastic Setting
So this and has a real strength and that is the world that it is set in. Everything about the world is great. You have a unique story and an interesting and easy to explain history and all of that kind of stuff. You do not get that very often in anime. Most worlds have layers and layers of complication to make the world seem like it is intricate. Those kinds of anime annoy me because it takes too long to get the basic premise talked about and therefore we have to wait and lose episodes going over history and stuff which is just tedious. As where this anime they sum things up pretty and quickly leaving plenty of time for character development Not that there is much of that.
It is hard to not talk about this anime and mention the great artwork. There are a lot of details and interesting ideas and concepts in this anime with makes it even more fun to watch. It is not everyday that you get to see this kind of stuff and enjoy it. I guess I can say that the anime itself has a great level of quality that you do not normally find in a lot of anime these days. Then again that might be because this version is some kind of blu-ray version or something I am not sure. Still even if that is the case I have seen some pretty crappy blu-ray quality anime out there. So it is nice to be able to relax and enjoy the art.
I guess the art allows the artist to do whatever they want to do. i mean you can literally just say "It is at the bottom of the pit" Then make up whatever goofy things that you can to see how people might react. Plus you have the added bonus of being able to throw in concept art and make it seem like those things are super rare. Which is nice it is interesting to see what might happen and what could happen in the future. Plus everything has a nice structure to it.
The anime itself is set up with a very rigid system. A system where you slowly level up and gain more experience and stuff like that. I really like how balanced this is in the series. You can see and understand why the Red whistles only go down to a certain level. They can find things and learn how to survive while they are down there. Then as they get better you slowly get to see things that change. Almost like a dungeon in an RPG. As your level grows things get progressively harder and that is a nice fun thing to watch as I watch this anime.
So all in all, this anime is very well made as far as the art and setting go. Plenty of people put a lot of thought into their art, but very few seem to really pull it off without there being an extra level of complication that just makes your head spin. That being said there are a few holes and details missing, but that is just how most anime works these days. You just have to take the time to enjoy what has arrived or something
