If you have not watched this anime you should. Just because it is freaking awesome. It is freaking awesome in many ways. It is kind of miss leading in the beginning. Then there is the fact that by any definition the main character is a "Bad Guy". Followed by the devious evil plotting that goes on. And you get to watch so REALLY long baseball.
So lets start off, we are told a nice tale about a some what legendary fictional batter. The story concludes with him not ever having been on a championship team. However, as it turns out this is just a REALLY elaborate introduction to the ACTUAL main character. So right off the bat they are lying to you. While this batter guy is still around you hardly get to see him again. Which is good as he is a bit of a dumbass with a lot of pride. Luckily the main character uses his evil manipulation to knock the batter down a peg or two.
Yes the main character is a bad guy, well he would be if he was not the main character. Tokuji is devious, manipulative and ruthless. Not only does he have an incredible ability to read someones actions. He enjoys not just defeating them, but beating them into the ground. I mean I can be a bastard, but Toua will lure you into a trap, once you are trapped he will torture you, and when he is done he will leave you to die. That is how much of a bastard he is. After all the title states "Nobody Wins but I"
Tokuji not only has an uncanny ability to read other peoples thoughts through their actions. But he also takes a luck based situation and ensures he wins. Tokuji pulls miracles, in the form of elaborate plans, out of his ass at the drop of a hat. He controls any situation no matter how disadvantageous. He seems to have some kind of super human ability to see every angle and every potential danger that may come his way. Really it is uncanny what he does. Not only that he can explain his plans without flaw. Which makes for some pretty interesting situations. Not to mention some pretty long games. Not that some of it is not educational.
If you were every curious about baseball this is an anime to watch. There is so much in it about the finer physics and actions involved in baseball. I mean the finer details about how spin affects a ball and how pitches can be thrown, mostly pitches. There is also plenty of baseball strategy in it as well.
So to sum things up, now that the entire thing is out there on fansubs you should watch it. Much like most sports animes it keeps you on the edge of your seat constantly guessing. The challenge everyone should answer is, can you figure out what Tokuji is thinking?
