You know I like it when I can sit down and call something a clone. After all that is what this anime is, a clone. Well not a 100% duplicate mind you. However, it is pretty much a clone of another famous series. You know that series that starts with a G.... and ends with dam. I can pick on that all day. So let me start off with something else, something that is just as annoying.

That would be the RomCom crap they threw into this anime. Well except it is not a RomCom really. Then it is... I mean it is not like the point of hte series was to make two people in extenuating circumstances hook up. At the same time it seems like the author is pretending like the whole Mech thing is just part of the show. Anyway, I guess I am saying the whole RomCom stuff was not needed. You just needed to have Jamie and Tokimune do their jobs and nothing else. Then again I guess that is just how things work out. We all want something to distract us. It is not like there is that whole political conspiracy going on to have a corporation rule the world. No nor is there any strangeness about why this other country wants to take over. Nope nothing like that. The important thing is watching those two people fumble around and pretend like no one has sex. Problem is that it does not distract from all the slightly changed letters.

You know the ones I am talking about. All the small things that were changed to make this anime seem less like it was not ripping off some other anime completely. You know how the pilot of Arge was actually already pilot, nice save there. What about the fact that the unit was found while under attack. Let us not forget the other side who has the most bad ass ace. However, he is not badass enough to actually have a custom mech or anything. He is just bad ass, which is kind of cool. What about the unit, it already existed independently. It was not just formed because one side did not want to deal with it. So yeah, the list goes on and on. However, at the end of the day it is nice to say that the anime is hardly original with any of its setting ideas.I guess when it comes to mech anime it is not really important to be original, but still they could have tried a little harder to make the anime a little more original right? Then there is the Ending.

Now personally the ending is not that bad I guess. I mean I do not mind the open ending where there might be a possibility of a second season. However, they had to ruin the potential of the series by flat out telling us that there will be another war. I mean yeah I guess that was expected but they could not just sort of let the idea float? I mean really they did not have to waste all the time at the end telling us about the emptiness of the treaty and how the treaty will like collapse in a couple of years. It could have been more fun to just leave it at "This is the end of the arc". I guess the problem is that they do not really have a good political side to the story.

Hey another thing I just realized sucked. The whole politics side of the war is pretty quiet until right around the end when the decisions need to be made. We just see a few shots of the key players to let us know that there is in fact a political side of things. However, they are not important enough to really waste our time on them because there be explosions to be had. Then we get to rush to the end not really understanding anything that is going on up until the end when everything is so nicely explained for us.

I guess I will file this anime under "wasted potential". True I rip it apart on things that are hard to make original, but still there could have been something so much more interesting. Not just copy this change the structure of a few sentences and then put it out there. Oh well, I guess we shall see if this has been deemed worthy to have a second season or we will just have to let that ferment until people decide this is a cult classic.
