That is to be Expected
So we have another anime involving girls, guns and military like stuff. You know I never knew there was such a huge market for cute girls pretending to kill each other. I mean... yeah you know I guess there are all kinds out there, but you know it seems a bit out of place to have a bunch of stupid girls shooting guns at each other. However, when you do not have a story be sure to make sure that you make all the characters somewhat one-dimensional and make them all act super cute and innocent. Then we will follow the traditional rise and fall of a character. Ah yes this anime is so very wonderful at times. Especially all the girls, and their one characteristic.
You know I guess I should not be surprised at the fact that all the girls are all one trick ponies, as you might say. I mean really, did the author put all his effort into how cute the girls were and nothing else? I mean each one of them had one thing they were good at, one was the foreign spaz, one was the cute tiny thing, the other was the mom, another was the brains, one was the super talented newcomer, and last you had your typical cliché eccentric leader. I guess that makes for easy writing at the end of the day. Then all you have to do is come up with something that might be a story.
Of course since war is involved you have to make sure that you have a fall from innocence or two or three. You know make sure that the main character basically suffers the entire anime in some shape or form. Not that anyone would really notice that. She is the victim of her own crappy decisions in this new life she is trying to break for herself. It is enough to make anyone sigh. Of course when the fall begins we take away from the whole survival game thing.
That was kind of interesting on this one as well. The anime starts off good, girls playing survival games. There was plenty to be seen and discussed for everyone. However, I guess writing one epic battle after another does get a bit hard to do. So instead of doing that why not just make it so that you just show someone shooting. Oh yeah and then sound effects. I guess I missed that towards the end, it stopped being about the survival games and was our heroine's fall from grace. You see less and less fun shooting of each other and more and more pointless empty plot around a girl who just sort of hates herself at this point. You get to watch a teenage girl be on perpetual PMS where the only thing that she does is treat people like crap. Which was kind of fun to watch. At the same time even that became kind of... well expected.
So yeah, this anime could have been much better. Well I guess the whole cute girl thing has a great amount of potential all the time, but at the same time it has no potential because well there are just so many expectations of what these moe animes should be. God forbid the cute girl suffer for more than a couple of episodes and become alienated and have to reach back and rebuild everything she worked so hard to shatter. I guess people do not understand you cannot really have so many falls from innocence and expect the anime to be good when after two or three betrayals all her friends still want to finger her. Oh well, I guess it is to be expected at this point most animes are like that anyway. Now we wait for the millions of figures of the girls in varying swimsuits humping their guns of choice in the most innocent way possible. Such a wonderful way to make anime work.
