Expand and Compress The Already Confusing Story
This must be the year of 13 episode animes. God this is terrible. Whatever happened to the good old days when anime was at least 26 episodes long. I mean the really good old days where I had to actually try to find a short anime. This anime is the perfect example of why we need 26 episodes.
Lets start off with the fact that the author seems to have writers block. I can always tell when an author knows where they want part of an anime to go. Like with the whole teacher episode. Very well written and well paced for a quick history episode. This is a good example of where the author knew what he or she was doing. Really the history episodes were the only ones that were well written. Then again it is hard to do good writing when you have a million characters.
Seriously, I lost track of a few of the characters. They would appear, have about a minute of good air time, and disappear. Then reappear like 7 episodes later for another five minutes or so. Then they would vanish again. It was sad in the case of some of the more hilarious characters, like the detective's daughter. I wish she had more air time. Her bat shit insane actions made her the most entertaining character in the series. They also needed characters like Hibino to die off. Hibino sucked as fan service, which was all she was there for. She had big tits... really that was it. She was not even that attractive. Well I guess she could have been.. if you focused on her tits. She was also a terrible love interest. Most of the time the love interest starts to move in 13 episodes. >_>.... I really hope she dies off. Really the useless characters were featured more than the useful ones. It is like a bad sitcom where the actors have to fight for air time.
Speaking of air time, the time was not well used. The author spent too much time setting the foundation for the plot. He would set a nice strong foundation. The rush the building of the story. Then lay another foundation and set up another shack. This was the pace that really ruins this series. Really the only story advancement was done via battles. Once a foundation was laid down. A fight happened and then another foundation was set. Which leaves so many loose ends.
I am ok with an author deciding what is important. That is just fine, they control the story and its elements. The problem is when they don't write the story that way. There are plenty of plot holes that are left wide open and bleeding. The two main ones being what is happening at the Hyuuga house. Seriously, they show some kind of evil plot in the Hyuuga house and the stop talking about it. The other being what is Takeshi's plan for the town. All they say is he wants to use the town. The author doesn't say what his plans are. The author does not even hint at his plans. Which is just fine, if you are planning on killing off that character as soon as they get going. Sadly, this character is still lying around. Finally there is the detective. What the hell is the point of this character? You know other than to be an annoyance? He is investigating something, but I have no idea what.
Sadly, this is the problem that this series has. You know being poorly executed, having too many characters, and having too many holes. I could tell this was going to happen by about a quarter of the way through this series. Which made it even more depressing when the confusing ending came and the cock teaser came at the end of the last episode. I really hope there is a crappy season 2. That way the series can at least be taped up.
