All The Love To Nyanko-Sensei
There is one character in this anime that saves the anime. That is the awesome Nyanko-Sensei. How can you get any more awesome than a fat cat who drinks and whores and is, for the most part, a complete ass hole? He makes this anime all worth while. I wish my cat was a smart ass... who drank like a fish... and who could turn into a giant thing and kill things for me. Best part is that Nyanko-sensei is featured enough to make the anime bearable.
If I grit my teeth and bear it... I guess I can give the author some mad props. Staving off my sarcasim this was an anime that wrote very... emotional episodes. Most animes that get to me get my emotions going once every couple of episodes. Hell Honey & Clover barely managed to fit the emotional parts in. Anyway, this anime always hits an emotional high point. There is always something in there to make me mad or sad or happy, thankfully not horny. Another good thing about this anime.
I am getting bored of fanservice to be honest. This anime has none, and it is a wonderful thing. When you do not spend your miserable time writing in obnoxious scences with panties and nuditiy and try to make them work in the story, you can spend more time on the story itself. Well I guess in the case of this anime the story telling anyway. The story in this one is weak at best.
I also like how strongly episodic this anime is. You know, it is rare that someone can set up an overarching plot point and then stick to it while writing stand alone episodes. Most highly episodic animes get a nice sitcom feel to them. Not this one. Each episode is like its own book. Which is nice, it is rare to find such a nice collection of books.
In the end though I only watched this anime for Nyanko-sensei. When he is not drinking and being... well a guy. He is being cute and cat like and it is awesome. >_> Why is it that magical transforming cats only exist in anime T_T?
