So let me say that Saji and Louise still piss me off in this series. I can honestly say that if both of them were not in this series the series would have been better. God damn whiney hippie ass holes with their high and mighty views on existence. Granted I do find it amusing how Saji has the worst luck. It gets even worse when they try and make Saji less of a bitch. The author decided to give him some kind of conviction to become better. I guess that is the one thing I really did not like about this series, the characters.
There are any number of reasons to not like the characters. Most of them had god complexes. Granted in order to be in Celestial Being I figure you have to have some kind of ego. However, all the characters were pretty cut and dry. When something did not go their way they either went nuts or became a whiny bitch. All of them were so committed to their original beliefs that they all just sucked. I mean commitment is good and all but when you refuse to evolve that is just annoying. Then again that is the one thing that Saji did, was evolve.
I also hate how eventually all the sides get cluster fucked together. For the first 15 or so episodes there is a nice division, you have the Federation, the A-Laws, Kataron, the Innovators and Celestial Being. By the end of it you have... well Celestial Being and Ribbons group. I guess having less sides makes things easier to follow. But at the same time what is the point in having a large number of sides to begin with? Why not just have all these smaller sides answering to the overlord? It is just annoying that is all. A bunch of sides rise up and then you find out that all the sides except for two are a facade.
Finally there are the innovators. First where did they come from? I know that they are essentially terminals for Veda. But how did they come into existence? I know that Veda is some super intelligent computer but I did not know there were human incubation pods on it. Second, how did all these Innovators get from Veda to earth? As far as I could tell there were starship ports. However, there were no ships on there? And since Veda was cloaked on the dark side of the moon it is not exactly easy to just call up a ride. Then there is the question of what is an Innovator? As far as I can tell there are three kinds. The kind that is created by Veda, the Kind that is created through drugs, and finally the kind that just wills itself into existence. But in the end what is an Innovator, if not someone with glowy eyes? A better explanation would have been appreciated. Oh well guess I will have to wait for the movie to come out next year.
