I was Actually Surprised
So whenever singing or songs are involved in anime, I tend to be a bit skeptical of how good the show might be, but I was surprised by this one. The anime is very interesting and well written. Whether it is the dual storytelling that goes on, or the music this anime is definitely worth a watch. I especially like how it comes to an end, more or less.
I think that I will start, on that note, with the fact that the anime ends. It is pretty rare to get an anime where the last episode is an actually decent epilogue. Most of the time an anime will conclude the series but try and make it and a cliffhanger to try and pretend like there might be a second season. I mean there could be a second season with this anime, but it would kind of feel forced and pointless at this point. There is nowhere for this anime to go. I guess that they could go into the future and retell the story from a modern standpoint, but you know that would be a little strange.
So I really have to things that I like about the music in this anime. The first thing is that all music is not weaponized. While it could make for an interesting plot twist that the singing causes destruction and therefore it should not be used very often, I like how only some songs make the magic, and others do not. It is also kind of interesting to see how they try and apply magical qualities to other music as well. It is pretty obvious that the songstress has the superpower, but they do kind of make it seem like musicians have some small amount of magical power as well.
Then there is the other fantastic part about this anime, for the first couple of episodes, there are two different arcs. They switch between the two several times throughout the anime, which can be confusing. However, it is still pretty interesting to try and see when they switch up the story. Plus eventually, the author takes both stories and combines them into one story for all to consume. I can say the part was describing what happened to cause the need for the dual stories is a bit clunky, but it is an interesting attempt.
All in all, this anime is a very enjoyable watch. The music and singing are good, along with the story, and the fact that you do not feel like you are losing out on the second season. All of these things combined make this season worth the watch. I guess that I am forgetting to mention the fact that this is on the shorter side with only 13 episodes. So it is a quick afternoon marathon and not some long slog through an anime that might have too many details.
