Mari is just your average high school girl. She wants to live life and enjoy her youth and all that stuff that you commonly hear about in anime. However, she also has this problem where she is pretty much terrified to try anything new or do something that goes against her parents wishes or really anything that would make her get in trouble or cause her anxiety. Well this depresses her until one day she bumps into someone who drops a million yen out of her bag. Being the good girl she is Mari returns the money and learns that the girl has the money so she can get to Antarctica. So Mari decides it is time for her to do something and following this girl to Antarctica seems like a great adventure
Season 1 Episode 1
Why This is Depressing
Ugh you know, I hate to do this but I am sympathetic to Mari on this on. I cannot honestly blame her for making all these plans to escape and do something bad and then... well wussing out. I have done that on several occasions myself. It is just sad to see her do that. I mean geez it is not like you cannot find those kinds of token locker things to store your crap in. So I totally get that up until she finds the money.
Seriously, a million yen.... you just want to give it back to its owner? I mean yeah I guess that you are in high school and want for nothing at the moment but seriously? That was depressing too, why couldn't this be an anime about the girl who finds a million yen and starts living her life in an exciting manner because she found the money or something? Oh well I guess that this is what is cool in Japan.
Season 1 Episode 3
All I Want is a Group of Friends
I really have to wonder about society sometimes. When I see all these kids who get to live prosperous interesting lives where they could be set up for life. Then they get all weepy because they do not get to go to school or have friends? Maybe it is the lack of sentiment in me but still why does this happen? I just will never understand this. We have all these wealthy anime characters who are living far more interesting lives than your average high schooler and the famous ones want to be boring. I guess it is the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence but... ugh.
I mean geez I would trade places with Yuzuki in a second if I got to skip school and go on an expedition to Antarctica and the only thing that I had to do was look cute and give off some kind of obnoxious news report. She can have the boring life where everyday and night I go to school and do nothing but watch the clock. I just will never understand what drives the emotions of these kids. It is almost like they believe that once you get a friend that friend will be there forever. Oh well, I guess again this is just another trend that appeals to the common target of these anime.
