What to watch spring MMXIX
So I am not really through everything yet, but I know what I am excited to watch as the season goes on, so that is good enough for me. I do not think there will be anything new and magical that pops into existence. So I will go down the list of what you should be watching, and remember it is all the new stuff and none of the old stuff.
So let us start with Kimetsu no Yaiba. This anime caught me by surprise; normally these anime about revenge and saving the sibling is not an anime that I am going to get into; Especially when the main character is just a weepy baby who relies on sentiment. However, the anime took a turn for the better when the main character manned up and took charge and went and did something. That is not something that generally happens in anime. Most of the time the main character is just dragged along by others. No, this time our main character managed to become something better. So it is interesting to see how his story will continue to grow.
Then there is Mayonaka no Occult Koumuin. You do not get much anime about the adult lives of people but this is one of the ones that appeared, and it is interesting. While the main character annoys me with his desire to be healthy. The series shows an exciting challenge that this agency has in order to deal with the issues of the Anothers. There is also a nice twist as they mix mythologies. That was another thing that was unexpected in this series. There are any number of billion anime out there where there are Yokai involved and while they are cute, they are kind of boring. So it is nice to see anime trying to include other mythologies. It should have a reasonably interesting place to go from here on out.
The Kenja no Mago is one of those that I am slowly becoming annoyed with; however, I am still anxious to see what is going to happen. The only reason why I am kind of annoyed is with how fast the anime is moving. It feels like this anime could do so much more. However, I can forgive a nice chunk of things because it is an exciting take on the reincarnation genre. Even if the main character kind of hurts the series by being so over-powered. I still find myself tuning in to see what obnoxious thing will surprise the ordinary people in the end.
Now for the random Slice of Life, Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai. This one is a cute one, and I am generally not all that into romantic comedies. However, I am into watching smart people suffer because he or she is only good at one thing. Though the series can be a bit frustrating at times because the main character is a bit stupid when it comes to teaching, but it has that fun high school romance as his harem slowly builds. It has not gotten to the part where everyone is trying to get into his pants. So until then, I find this anime to be a lot of fun to watch. A nice change of pace from the explosions and stuff like that.
I feel that is a good number to recommend that you follow along as the shows come out. There are a couple of good ones out that are marathon-worthy, but why list those in this review. This is the season review of stuff that you hate yourself for starting because there are seven days of waiting in-between each episode. Even better a lot of this anime is still on Funimation so if you are not a subtitle fan you can get your dubs over there. Though Crunchyroll is trying to start doing that as welll, anyway, these are the ones for those who do not have as much time as me, enjoy.
