A Quick Review of Fall 2017
Yikes I am pretty sure it has been way too long since my last post... I am not even going to look at my history. Anyway, I need to find more time to do stuff these days. It is funny how things like moving and job hunting and stuff like that sap all your mental energy and you are left with very little motivation to write when you need too. Not to mention all the stuff I need to do for this other career stuff that I am now having to deal with since I am not one to really talk with people and get jobs that way. Anyway, this season has been an interesting one really. You have a lot of neat stuff going on... and some really annoying stuff going on. Like all the Otome anime that is out and about.
Yes how sweet it is that it is out and about, all the pretty boys who.. well lets face facts can pass for female. Anyway, I have always hated the idea that a dating sim could be an anime. These ones are no exception to be honest. They are just as painful to watch as any gal game. You have cookie cutter female lead. You know she is super sweet and innocent and thrown into a strange situation. Then everyone who gets a character design proceeds to flirt with her. I guess it is not too bad since this season they tried to make it so that it would not be just another romp at school. It is interesting seeing the vampire Sengoku stuff or the weird steam punk work of England. My how it is boring to watch as well as there seems to be a never ending cast of potential suitors. However, enough about those, that was just a fair warning.
It has not been all bad, it has been good in fact. Lets take Black Clover for example. That one is kind of fun to watch. Especially when you can see all the umm... I guess it will be homage to Naruto. Instead of Ninjas they are wizards and everyone wants to be a magical knight... instead of a ninja. Everyone joins up and trains with these military organizations at a young age so on and so forth. Then we have the loser protagonist who seems to believe that screaming is how you talk or something. He who will one day rise to great power all from hard work... that does sound familiar. However, it is still interesting to watch. Mainly because they have yet to waste our time with a tournament arc. Too bad episode 12 is rapidly closing in.
Moving onto another obnoxious but amusing anime. The recovery of an MMO addict. This one is... well lets face facts you watch it because you like to pretend you can do what the main character did. At the ripe old age of 30, or whatever, you quit work to become a deadbeat. You think about how nice it would be to be able to do that. However, now we have the main problem of how incredibly boring and predictable the series is. You will be shocked to figure out everything before you get to the end of the series. Still it is amusing to watch, so I guess I cannot complain too much.
Though a nice change from everything was the idol anime TSUKIPRO. It is always weird watching idol animes. However, watching one about males is a nice change of pace. Especially since they are more like famous than idols. Yes some are designated as idols but others are more like garage bands. Which is very nice to watch. Plus you get variety with these ones as well as it revolves around several groups and not just one large group of idiots. Which gives the anime a nice musical variety of generic power chord nonsense about love. However, at least you get to dive into more than one genre.
All in all I guess I am saying you did not miss much this season. Well that or maybe I am getting picky about stuff or something. Next season should have more stuff, on the website, I hope. Plus maybe I could learn something about designing stuff and go from there that would be a lot of fun for me. I could learn something new and actually pull this website out of the dark ages or something.
