So recently I read an article about the Wii U having been hacked. Now to some this is a good thing. However, I can only sigh because now I have to wait for the Wii U to download an update. Well I am not sure exactly when that will happen, but.. I know it will happen soon.. that annoys me that is for sure. More and more over the years I am realizing that hackers are ruining the industry. Well maybe the industries.

So lets start off with the actual industry I am talking about, the Gaming Industry. You know more and more hackers are making the gaming industry suck. Why, because companies are spending all their time fighting the bastards. Take the PS3 for example. It took 6 years to hack the PS3. That is a pretty long time. I wonder how much of Sony's expenses were actually for the graphics, gameplay, and OS? Last I checked I would rather not have the internet than use the built-in PS3 browser. I am pretty sure Sony put a monumental cost on the security side of things. Then guess who has to foot that bill us the consumer. What about the XBox 360 and its HDD. If you want an HDD for your XBox you have to buy a Microsoft approved one. Just like with Sony you have to buy a Sony approved Vita memory card.

So really when you think about it hackers screw over the people who they claim to want to help more. After all, you need to now spend more money to make up for the costs of the security that was put in place. You also need to spend more money on perphirals and stuff like that. What about with the growing gaming population? Well now Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft needs to spend more money on servers to enforce their update policy. After all, most systems are useless when an update has come out. Well if I cannot download that update, what am I supposed to do? So there are plenty of extra costs being put on us the consumer. This is just the gaming industry too.

Let me think of how this effects the anime industry.. you know the stuff I review on this site. Hmm... Well for starter hackers suck because they can find ways to bypass security on paid services. Take my Crunchyroll app, I bet there is a way to fake needing the membership. Hackers are the ones who also crack encoding. So now I do not have to worry about having to buy anything. Because I can download the anime online. Then burn it to a DVD or Blu-Ray even, and play it. I remember the days when I used to have to really think and try to get a VCD working. Hell back in the day Sega allowed you to play VCDs on your Dreamcast. I could not figure that out though.

So yeah I guess the message is that hackers suck. I can admit there was a time when I used to use them. However, that time has passed. I have the money to feed my habits. So hackers are little more than pests these days. I will admit they are an evil we need. However, using their powers to get people free stuff is not really the best use of their time. They need to keep telecoms in check and stuff like that. After all, if those people were not such money-grubbing assholes. We would not need to worry about anything like that. However, I digress, this is an ongoing war between those who do not understand how an economy works. Which is sad, too bad there is no good that can ever be done in this realm. I guess I will just deal with my never-ending firmeware updates.
