Travel Industry
You know it is kind of funny. All the time whenever I take vacation time I am asked "Are you going somewhere?". To which I reply "I am going to my couch". I am then looked at with a baffled look of shock and disappointment. I mean who could take a week off from work and just stay home and relax. I mean why relax at home? The bastard, he must be a loser or crazy or something. Sadly that is not the case friends. It is because I hate our commercial travel industry.
You see in order to go somewhere that means that I have to play around with the Airline or Train companies. Right now I am traveling for business. I made a few premature travel plans and am going to be stuck in the airport for an extra.... ah christ 8 hours. So I decided to take a higher road and try to come back earlier. You know so that way I am not wasting a day sitting in an airport playing video games... not that I REALLY care. That is why god invented laptops. Anyway enough of that. So I get online to try to change my flight. Low and behold I cannot just change my flight. No there is a nice steep $150 fee to change my flight. You know to change my flight to an earlier time. I am seriously pissed off now.
When the airlines introduced fees for checked bags, I said that was ok. When they introduced the retarded idea of checking in online I said ok. Hell I know that there has always been a flight change fee. I am sure it was MUCH less than $150 in the past. Yet for some reason united things they have to charge me more money. This is the reason why the travel industry sucks.
The reason being there is a nickel and dime fee for pretty much everything. Granted it is way more than a nickel for those fancy airlines that I hate anyway. I know it won't be long before Airlines start charging you to bring luggage on the plane. We all know it is coming. We all know that the airlines will say "What are people going to do take the train?" Then we will be relegated to a flying bus. Of course the cost of tickets will increase another $100 as well just for kicks. You know kind of like gas. What is even funnier is how people try to get around checking bags.
I have a lot of experience with this as my family was always wanting to be super efficient. I personally never cared if there was a 20 minute difference between when I would leave the airport and when they would leave. To be honest I could care less. However, my mom would insist that no one check bags. Which was kind of funny. Anyway it is funny watching people walk onto planes with their bags that barely fit to begin with. Plus they also have a "Personal Item" You know that duffel bag that has been modified to look like a backpack. Which is gingerly shoved under the seat in front of you in a vain attempt to look like you are following the rules. That always amuses me. Thus the airplane is crowded and even more miserable. All I can say is that at least my tetris skills have paid off. I can get about 6 days of cloths into one duffel bag.
The sad thing about all this is that no one learns anything. You see if all of a sudden airlines started losing a BUNCH of money because no one took the planes any more. They would change their policy. They would make things sane once again. The problem is that too many people liked being fucked in the ass. I guess it is sex after all. Even if it is in the asshole. If all of a sudden the airlines were DEEP in the red because of all these ridiculous fees and then when the fees went away they were in the record profits. They might learn something. Sadly no one has ever learned that lesson.
So that is my bitch fest about why I hate the travel industry and why I stay at home when I go on vacation. Well that or drive somewhere. It is because the people who run these companies are greedy cock mongers who get off on how freaking stupid people are. It is really no different in any major business situation. Plus the worst part is that people do nothing about it. They sit there and let our corporate overlords fuck us in the ass then toss us aside to take the next person in line. Funny how different the world would be if all of history had the same idea.
