No Anime Week
Ok that is not entirely accurate, there was anime this week. Sadly though there was a lot of anime cancelled due to the Olympics. It was a sad thing, what is so special about those things anyway? Maybe I just do not appreciate them because I no longer have regular TV. I guess I could watch them online now. Oh well, that is life sometimes. So my anime list was decidedly shorter this week.
Granted, I have to wonder about some of the advertisements I have seen while out and about. Like one advertisement about how these athletes are so dedicated that they do not do things that most normal people do. The one about not watching TV was a good one. If we want to get technical I have not watched TV for years. I also have to wonder what they qualify as TV. These commercials that promote healthy obsessions kind of annoy me.
Really, that is all these athletes have is an obsession. I also have to wonder if it is really worth it in the end as well. I mean, depending on the sport you do not get many olympic appearances. Take Gymnastics for example. I think most females have to stop doing that sport by age 21. So if you screw up your one chance now... well you are screwed. Skiing is another interesting one. You train Non-stop for four years. Then you get, at most four runs, and that is if you are lucky. I just have to wonder why no one can see that these are obsessions just the same. Then again, I guess a claim to fame of some kind is much better than sitting at home watching anime. At least they have some kind of glory to hold onto.
Anyway, I digress the olympics are pretty much over and that means that we can get back to the regular stuff and forget about these sports until two years from now... aww crap.. that is right we have winter olympics coming up. Oh well, at least I think last time those were on they did not get in the way of anime too much.
