Bored so Lets Diet
So yeah I have been really lazy these past few months. I am not sure why I am being so lazy to be honest. I have just not felt like reading subtitles. Think it may have something to do with my roommate. Maybe it has been my obsession with my new diet. Which I think is working out great for me even if it is torture for me. So since I have nothing new to write about. How about I waste your time with this new diet of mine?
The diet is called the Paleo diet. The idea originates from the idea, that despite their lack of medical knowledge. Hunter/Gather humans were WAY healthier than we are today. Your typical hunter/gatherer human had professional athlete athleticism. They also did not really suffer or die from many diseases that we do today. They typically died from infections, animals, or rival tribes. Heck they even had a lower infant mortality rate. So they must have been instinctually doing something right. The question is what were they doing right.
So we then take the time too look at the food they ate.
When you get down too it, hunter/gatherer humans ate lean meats, fruits and vegetables. One thing that we do not really think about is how much our diet changed when we started farming grain. The book I read basically said we need too look at grains and see what they do. I think the best argument is how grains survive. They survive by being toxic to a degree. The idea being if you eat them you will feel ill. Unlike fruits which just have their seeds pass through you. Vegetables rely on me dumping out the seeds or eating them like fruit as well. Grains try to discourage you from eating them. Problem is that most of us have been eating grains forever so we have adapted to their effects. However, grains basically drag along your intestines and break apart your body. They even mimic existing things in our bodies to get our bodies to attack themselves. Second lets look at what carbohydrates are. At the end of the day they are just sugar. The amount of sugar depends on the carbohydrate. Now our body already has the tools needed to create sugar. Our livers can make sugar from fat. Our body does this naturally. So with Carbohydrates, we just have a ton of sugar lying around in our blood. Which is messing with cholesterol and becoming fat. Again overview... it was months ago when I read this book.
So lets get to the actual diet part. It is simple avoid sugar and carbohydrates like the plague. Literally that is it, however, it is also insanely difficult. I mean insanely difficult to do just that. You never realize just how much our economy relies on sugar and carbs to get by. Do something fun for me. Look at something that is not sweet and see if their is sugar of some kind in it. Believe it or not there is sugar in almost everything. So you have to buy a lot of fresh meets and vegetables. The goal is to be high protein high fat and no carbs. The majority of my carbs come from protein supplements and coconut water. It is kind of weird. Yet once you get over the initial withdrawal stages it is actually kind of nice. Best part is that BACON is on that list of approved foods. The less lean a meat is the less often you should have it but still you can have it. If you are looking to lose weight you should avoid fruits and high carb vegetables, like potatoes. Another thing no Legumes, they contain stuff that prevents us from absorbing nutrients. Also stay away from artificial sweeteners... they are bad for you in general. Booze is a gray area, die hards should avoid it. However, if you still want to drink or drink booze distilled from fruits. Tequilia is the best booze for paleo diets. THIS MEANS not beer.
Personally I find this diet to be really simple.. most do not because they do not think of all the small details. Regardless the results talk for themselves. I mean during my crash time I lost about 10 lbs. It is a bit of a chore to always have to make your food.. but... you know it is a small price to pay to be healthy right? However, at the end of the day it is a diet and what works for some does not work for others. So.... take it with a grain of salt, as the saying goes.
