People Aren't Smart Enough To Drive
You know I am starting to think the whole idea of a car is a bad one. Over the past week there have been too many close calls for me to feel safe driving anymore. I guess I can understand why my mom always said "I don't trust other drivers". It is hard to decide who is worse. So I am going to start off with the oldest.
Over the past couple of weeks the majority of my frustration comes from old people. When I say old people I mean the REALLY old one. Those are are pushing 80 and still driving. I guess if they are pushing 80. Then they were not around to see what happens to people when they start to push 80. You know their shadows suddenly start looking like the grim reaper. They lose their... well senses. They are also more prone to dying. Plus the vast majority of them start to lose track of reality. So I wonder why we allow people who are basically dead to drive? It just makes no sense. Kind of like how we allow teenagers to drive.
Here comes my next frustration. I don't know what it is this year, but there seem to be a lot more teen drivers. Did we hit a baby boom and I don't know about it? Either way it is rather annoying. You know they are the ones who do all that stuff that is a bad idea. My favorite of course being Texting while driving. It never amazes me how long it takes people to realize what is a good and bad idea. Something like writing is a process which requires you ENTIRE attention span. Texting especially, since so many of them have regular phones. Let me break it down. First you have to read the message. That means you have to focus on your phone. Then you have to read and process the message, because you have to use net speak. Then you have to fabricate a reply in your head. Then once again you need to focus on your phone and start keying in the message. Of course you have to do this while in a half ton of metal going 45 MPH. Forgetting that you need to watch out for... well objects. One of those objects being the lost.
Again, I cannot really count the number of accidents that have almost occurred in general because of the lost. I call them the lost because they are the ones who do not know where the fuck they are going. These are the assholes who realize that they need to turn right 100 feet from now, but are in the left lane. So what do they do? Instead of waiting till the next intersection to pull a u-turn and drive back. No they have to cut across 3 lanes of traffic. You know in that magical line that appears when at an angle that is. What is so wrong with driving that extra 100 feet to half a mile to find a safe place to turn around at? That is what I do. I don't obstruct traffic just because I HAVE to get there now. Then again, I am rarely rushed.
Which brings me to another part of my favorite people. Those who don't realize that they are going 75 in a 45 zone. Those people who always seem to be flying by me like.. well there is no traffic during the day. I especially love the ones who fly through the various gaps in rush hour traffic. I get even more satisfaction as I slowly put past them with traffic when I finally hit it. Sometimes it is fun to mess with them. When I see someone barreling down on me. SO I decide to match their speed so they cannot get around that other person. Yes I am one of those assholes. I also love being in a one lane road and being tail-gated while going 35 in a 65... :P There is no need to tailgate friend. Then again sometimes I feel like a hypocrite.
After all, slow drivers piss me off just as much as fast ones. Those wonderful drivers who never seem to reach the speed limit. Those who drive 10 under the speed limit the entire way. You know the old and scared. Those who hinder traffic, because they think it is safer. Those who don't realize they cause more accidents. After all, it is easy to misjudge a slow moving vehicle.
I guess it is because our society relies on people spending too much money on gas. You know so we can drive around the block? I often times wonder how many people received a drivers license. Then I remember my test. You know the drive around the block? Yes the drivers test that took a while 20 minutes. After all, no money is made from someone who fails the test right?
