Could Have Been Been Unique
So I am going to try my best to minimize the spoilers of this anime but the reasons why this anime is bad might let a few spoilers slip out. So you have been warned. So this anime does not really get the good and bad balance award, in my opinion. I would say the issues that arise as a part of the bad side make the series far more annoying than the few redeeming qualities of the series.
So let us start off with how Eiji ruins the series. The main problem he has is his lack of consistency. Maybe this is a regular thing in most anime, but it felt more grating in this anime. Eiji would jump from whiny, sis-con, suicidal, brat to future dictator of the world and back. Sadly he spends most of his time in the loser phase than anything. Which makes his sudden desire to succeed and sudden need to do something really stupid. I mean they could have dialed that whole defeatist attitude back a few notches and it would not have been so bad. However, I guess it adds color to the series or something.
The next thing are the powers granted by the Orders. So if you are familiar with X-Men and the mutant categorization. Every single order in this series is either, Beyond Omega level or nothing special. We have powers that can control anyone and everything, there are powers that rewrite reality, there are people who can look through a TV and cut stuff it is strange. It is also very annoying because there are the few who do not fall into the beyond omega level category almost seem like they are in the way. They are just sort of there for extra characters and nothing else really. Basically the way things worked out in this anime. If you are an order you are either a god or not and that really gets weird and annoying. Especially when they try to feature the characters who have pretty basic and worthless powers.
Continuing my issues with the orders. Somehow they have a status similar to mutants in X-Men. Yet for some reason a crap ton of them are put in charge of running districts and doing stuff like that. Again this is pretty strange to me. You have people being taught to fear the orders and fear them good. However, they are also told that they will be governed by the orders and they just have to live with it. Again a very confusing sort of thing. I mean it would be one thing if the Orders just happen to also have those positions, but a lot of orders seem to have been put straight into the position of governing for the exact reason they were hated, because they have super powers.
Let us not forget the grating love stuff as well. I mean I thought it was kind of cool how Eiji did that thing to whats her face and basically forced her to be his slave. That was actually kind of crafty and evil. However, from there on out it just gets lame. We have the Miko and the sister. The Miko is basically ignored, and the sister is the love interest. It gets to be obnoxious is what it is. Then we have the slow turn of the or yandere person to Tsundere and everything is made better right? Really this series did not need this extra love story crap. The same story could have told without wasting episodes letting the love interests go on pointless outings that could loosely be called a date.
So yeah that about sums things up. The intense grating nature of these issues can make the anime almost unwatchable. Thankfully it is not at its worse until about two thirds of the way in which means there is some enjoyment to be had while the characters all develop into the grating habits that they have. I can say I was more or less done with the series towards the end. I just figured why waste all the time and not finish it. I guess I have to finish it now that I am here. It is only fair that I do. No reason to say I got to the very end and gave up. You should do yourself a favor and give up early on so that way your time can be better spent on other things.
