These REALLY short animes are always nice. You know the ones that are so short it takes less than an hour to get through them? Well this is one of those animes, racking in at two episodes. It probably would have been better if it was just a movie, but I guess this might have been some kind of special. Not to mention the good lack of ninja obnoxiousness.

Now I am all for crazy battles with lots of flashing lights and explosions. But at the same time, those get really old fast. Kind of like Naruto. Where every ninja is always using his or her techniques. So much so that there is very little actual fighting going on. In this one, they show those abilities for what they are special abilities. Abilities that should only be used when no choice is left. And as a result you get ninjas who actually use their weapons and martial arts skills to fight. Which is very nice, because to be honest without some good old fashioned martial arts these shows become boring. No matter how brutal they try and make them.

Finally I have to say this anime is a good example for just how brutal ninjas were. It displayed how if you were lucky you would be able to survive a ninja attack. As well as how ninjas did not think twice about who to kill. They killed everyone in sight. Men, women, children the ninja fulfilled their purpose of exterminating their objectives. Not like some of the more popular ninja series where the ninjas feel bad about killing others. Or are idealistic, and try to change the world by being pretend peace loving hippees.
