Go For The Trains
I always enjoy finding these really niche anime, especially since the niche probably does not watch anime. So if anything this anime is great because it explores a real niche in the whole otaku world. You know those people who love trains in Japan. I guess I could be like them too if the train system here was not so crappy. Plus you get to learn about all sorts of different things about the numerous trains that are available to Japan. Which is just interesting in and of itself. You do not really realize how many different trains they have developed over the years.
I mean I know that trains are kind of downplayed in our society since.. well driving is faster, easier, and far more comfortable, I have checked. Oh yeah I forgot to mention cheaper as well. Anyway, it is really interesting to learn about all these different trains that are available to the train company. There are lots of different specs and things that you do not really think about when you are not really into something. Like the one with the big windows for viewing the ocean. Then there was the express train that repurposed a helicopter engine. I did enjoy the one that was powered by a bike as well. The best part about this anime is the fact that they had to make the train part accurate.
The rest of the series is kind of out there.. you know the would be cop wanting to be part of the train, the rich girl wanting to do security, the girl who likes sounds of trains wanting to be a waitress... there were plenty of things that had to be stretched, but the trains were the one thing that had to be done good. Otherwise, what would the point of making anime about trains be? After all, you cannot make an anime about trains which is supposed to cater to the people who are really into trains and then just make fun of them. Though I think they might make fun of them a little.
I mean Takayama is kind of oblivious to the females around him which I will say i not a bad thing. I do not mind him being so focused on, well himself, that he cannot see the never-ending sexual tension the females in the series put themselves through. That makes this anime great, all the girls are getting wet over the main star and the main star really doesn't seem to care. He just goes about his business because he has made it extremely close to being the person he wants to be. He seems to not really care that all the females are not fulfilled and need him to love them so they can feel fulfilled. If not for one episode I would say that Takayama is awesome because he is completely oblivious to the that aspect of life. Which means no wasted time trying to force in a love story or anything like that. At least I think that is what happened.
Either way this anime can be fairly enjoyable if you want to learn more about the rail system in Japan and all of the cool stuff involved with it. Whether that stuff be the trains themselves, the different tracks or the day-to-day operations of the security forces. Overall this anime is a very enjoyable experience for those who want to give it a change.
