Another Sprint Finish
Why should I not like this anime. You know it gets hard to decide what it is that really upsets me about it. I mean, there is the sprint to the finish. For some reason this season did not get approved for 26 episodes. There is the overabundance of really kind of messed up drama. After all these are all kids and they are all hot for each other. Really when I get down to it this is where this particular anime falls short.
Speaking of short, the season for this anime seems too short. The problem is that this anime has so much potential to grow and have lots and lots of story. I bet in the manga there is plenty of story and trials and all that jazz to go around. However, in the anime they decide to just have one REALLY good arch. Then they rush into the last couple of arches. Why would you do that? The first arch was amazing. Plenty of story and self-discovery. Plenty of time to see how this particular thing plays out. I mean plenty of time. We get to see how each character is personally effected and how they deal with it and grow.
Then we get to the second arch. Time is running out so I guess we need to skip over all the other stuff that could happen. Then there is the third arch which I like to call a Montage. After all, there is more time than the first two arches that has passed and then there is an end. Not just any end either. I running right into the wall end. I mean running into a wall at a full sprint because you are not looking end. I can see the third arch was set up to be the series ender. However, only one person gets to have the resolution that the series brings? That is just bullshit in my book. Everyone needs to have their resolution and reach the level cap.. However, instead we just see everyone quit early because the game is going free-to-play.
Speaking of desperate ideas to keep something going strong. Why the hell was there so much drama? Well I guess deep down I know why, but still. At times it just seemed excessive. Especially with the male lead getting all the play, like always. For some reason he manages to gather the eyes of all the females while the other guy is just in the way. They all seem to love him despite the fact that he is really the main cause of all the issues int he series. I guess it would not have been so bad if they did not try to shoot for the stars with each incident. Especially with the females. All the females seemed to have some kind of Trauma in their life that fucked them up.
This is something else that kind of messes with me. The fact that all the females are the one's suffering the most trauma through their life. I guess they are more susceptible to the trauma. However, what the fuck? I mean this anime makes it seem like males only purpose is to guid the females to the right answer so the females can start abusing the males again. Maybe it was just me, however, it seemed like the guys were made up to be invincible. To add insult to injury the males seemed to just get problems right at the end. Why would anyone do that? Why ruin the flow of the story, even if it is a bad flow.
Regardless of whatever potential the series had. All that potential was wasted on stupid crap. I mean there could have been a much better series. Well one that sucked less if all the arches were equally paced. That is the problem that most animes these days have. They get the really good intro, and then fuck it up at the end. Then what about all character problems. I guess I am a bit miffed that not everyone got a chance to grow and overcome stuff. That is a pretty key thing in a lot of anime. After all, if you just seem to be picking on one gender because.. well that gender tends to be crazy. The anime gets boring. Well for me anyway, I notice crap like this. I guess it comes with the territory of being a critic right?
