A Little Something & A Lot of Nothing
You know a series is bad when you cannot figure out the group of people who they are trying to market too. My gut says they are marketing to Military Otaku, but I have a feeling I am wrong. Then again how can I be expected to understand this series at all? Really who thought that having all the girls be "Guns" was a good idea? Then there is the poor attempts at fan service. Really, you have the occasional Yuri moment and the occasional underwear/swimsuit scene. Even worse was the sudden extreme character development and then back to mindless nothing. The main mindlessness being the guns.
The fact that the girls are guns is something that I get... and do not get at the same time. I would have gotten it more if there was not the on girl who transferred to this gun school. I mean if there had been no transfers and then transfer outs. Then the series would have made sense. The whole magical "They Are Guns" thing is something that I can appreciate I really can. However, when you start doing confusing things like making girls become guns and then suddenly not be guns anymore. It is really easy to get lost. However, I guess that is what all the mindless fanservice was for.
In a series like this you need something.. I am not sure what. But random fanservice is not one of them. The random fan service just does not make any sense. IT was almost like the writer was going in and forcing there to be that one scene with panties or that one swimsuit episode. That just ruins a series. Yes constantly seeing panties ruins a series as well. However, at least that is planned and part of the series. It is not jus some lame extra crap there to make sure we are not all sleeping through this series. Granted during the dear American's growth it was a little excessive
That is another thing that really annoyed me. Suddenly out of no where they wanted to have a story. So what do they do, they throw in this couple of episodes streak where one of the girls has a story and.. well an actual character that is not a stereotypical American character. Where she goes through your typical girl realization of how she has been a bitch to her friend and how she needs to love her friend and all that crap. So basically what happens is there is a bunch of mindless nonsense up until this section and then a bunch of mindless nonsense afterwards.
So take it for what it is I guess. This series seems like it was an extra filler series where you just sort of have to have an anime. I doubt there will be anything beyond this. This anime is definitely not worth remembering either. There are just too many poorly written sections and to many random bits of empty nonsense. If there had been a bit more about how being a gun plays into their lives. Then the series would have been better. Sadly, it was just cute, semi-yuri girls shooting big automatic guns. So I would say do not waste your time with this one.
